Mungo – 1-day Workshop

Mungo measures 20cm (8:) and is made from dark-tipped mohair. His face is extensively needle-sculpted and shaded. Mungo has a head joint only – his body is in one piece but fully armatured and the little tail finishes the look. He is filled with wool and designed to lie on his tummy.

The workshop will focus on the needle-sculpting and shading of the face and the construction of the body armature. No pre-sewing required. This bear requires basis bear making skills. If you are comfortable making a bear and would like to learn how to achieve these wonderful effects using advanced techniques – this is a workshop not to be missed!

Misty – 1-day workshop

Misty is a playful cub made from alpaca with ultra-suede paw pads. Her face is extensively needle-sculpted and painted and features glass eyes with eyelids, eyelashes and a beautifully embroidered nose. Her arms are armatured, her fingers are bendable and her paw pads are needle-sculpted and painted also. Misty has a double neck joint and a tummy insert, is 6-way cotter-pin jointed and filled with wool and glass beads to give her a lovely weight. She is designed to lie on her back with legs in the air.

Misty is ideal for the bear maker who is comfortable to make a bear but would like to learn different techniques and experience with needle-sculpting and shading.

Have you ever wanted to make one of Monica Spicer’s Elegant Ladys? Well she is teaching several workshops in 2010 and these will not be repeated.

On the first day you will learn how to give your bear’s face the look they’re known for, and put the bear together. On the second day you’ll learn how to make her dress and hat. On the third, you’ll get to do all her accessories: hat decoration, a pouch bag and parasol.
